    Metformin nursing implications

Metformin may rarely cause a serious, life-threatening condition called lactic acidosis. Your doctor will probably tell you not to take metformin. Also, tell your doctor if you are over 65 years old and if you have ever had a heart attack; stroke; diabetic ketoacidosis (blood sugar that is high enough to cause severe symptoms and requires emergency medical treatment); a coma; or heart or liver disease. Taking certain other medications with metformin may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Tell your doctor if you are taking acetazolamide (Diamox), dichlorphenamide (Keveyis), methazolamide, topiramate (Topamax, in Qsymia), or zonisamide (Zonegran). Tell your doctor if you have recently had any of the following conditions, or if you develop them during treatment: serious infection; severe diarrhea, vomiting, or fever; or if you drink much less fluid than usual for any reason. You may have to stop taking metformin until you recover. If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, or any major medical procedure, tell the doctor that you are taking metformin. I am so please that the packaging industry is seeing the light on those painful clam shell packages. I for one have cut myself so many times trying to open a Barbie Doll for my 8 year old that I have resorted to giving gift cards. Well, not exactly but less clam shells means more board and board is renewable and good for printing and packaging and me and you! OK, it’s not a complete and total recovery but lets celebrate the baby steps. To the health of our industry -Lizzy Zinn Don’t have enough knowledge about natural sleep supplements? With our help we will teach you everything you need to know about it. Read on: But the maddening — and nearly impenetrable — plastic packaging known as clamshells could become a welcome casualty of the difficult economy. High oil prices have manufacturers and big retailers reconsidering the use of so much plastic, and some are aggressively looking for cheaper substitutes.
